What is KYC?
KYC (Know Your Customer) is a regulatory standard that requires companies to identify and verify the identity of their customers. The purpose of these procedures is to ensure the security of your transactions and protect Aion against fraud, corruption, money laundering and terrorist financing. The KYC process involves different steps: collecting customer data to establish customer identity, understand the nature of a customer's business activity and assessing the ligitmacy of the source of funds.
Why do we require data updates?
In accordance with current regulations, among others, the Belgian AML Law (Law of 18 September 2017) the Law on Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism of March 1, 2018 (Journal of Laws 2023, item 1124, as amended), KYC due diligence is a mandatory requirement for all obliged entities to idenity and verify its customers (legal entities and natural persons) when opening an account and at regular intervals during the client relationship with the obliged entities allowing them to:
- Comply with AML/KYC regulations
- Ensure the security and transparency of all transactions.
- Protecting against fraud, money laundering and other criminal offences.
What data do we collect?
As part of the KYC process, we may ask for the following information:
- Personal information: first name, last name, TIN/Social security or PESEL number or ID card number.
- Contact information: home address, phone number, email address.
- Proof of identity: a scan of your ID card, passport or other proof of identity.
How do we keep your data secure?
Your data is processed in accordance with the principles of GDPR and internal security policies. We guarantee that all information is protected from unauthorized access and used only for purposes in accordance with KYC regulations.

- an SMS
- an email message.
If you are a corporate customer, we will send you:
